Why this itinerary caught my attention

The wildlife is a beginning.
There’s so much more to the story.

I love that this trip lets you experience the bush and then keep exploring. You’ll spend several nights in each of the main regions, share meals with local families, and finish with four nights in Cape Town. The variety is a big part of why I wanted to offer it to my travelers.

01 / OUT IN THE WILD

Look closely.
Then look again.

A morning game drive in Pilanesberg feels different from watching the banks of the Chobe River from a boat. Across eight wildlife safaris, you’ll have several opportunities to look for elephants, big cats, hippos, and more. Nature decides what shows up.

02 / A CHANGE OF SCENE

Falls, coastlines,
and a different perspective.

Feel the scale of Victoria Falls, take in Cape Town from Table Mountain when weather permits, and visit the penguins at Boulders Beach. There’s plenty to experience between wildlife outings.

03 / A SEAT AT THE TABLE

The conversations
are part of the trip.

A home-hosted lunch near Victoria Falls and dinner with a Capetonian family bring a personal perspective to the journey. In the Cape Winelands, vineyard tastings and lunch in Franschhoek make a very different kind of afternoon.

The route

From the bush
to Cape Town.

A 15-day Southern Africa group tour with wildlife, local connections, and time in the Cape Winelands.

This overview follows the June 2028 brochure. Hotels, flights, and the order of experiences may change. Optional experiences are additional.

  1. DAYS 1–2

    Depart & arrive in Johannesburg

Begin with an overnight flight, then settle in after arrival. There is no scheduled sightseeing on arrival day.

  2. DAYS 3–5

    Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Fly to Victoria Falls for three nights. See the falls, learn about rescued elephants and conservation, and share a home-hosted lunch. An optional helicopter flight and sunset cruise cost extra.

  3. DAYS 6–7

    Chobe, Botswana

Cross into Botswana for a river safari and game viewing in Chobe National Park. One afternoon offers a choice of another game drive or river safari.

  4. DAYS 8–10

    Pilanesberg, South Africa

Fly via Johannesburg and transfer to Pilanesberg. Head out on morning and afternoon game drives, with a sundowner in the landscape and an outdoor Boma dinner.

  5. DAYS 11–14

    Cape Town & the Winelands

After a final game drive, continue to Cape Town. Explore Table Mountain, the waterfront, the Cape Winelands, Cape Point, and Boulders Beach, with dinner in a local family’s home.

  6. DAY 15

    Depart Cape Town

The tour ends July 1, with a day room available until 4 p.m. Confirm the flight schedule and arrival-home date before making other plans.

Scheduled brochure accommodations include The Wallow near Victoria Falls, Chobe Marina Lodge, Black Rhino Game Lodge, and Southern Sun the Cullinan in Cape Town. Alternate properties may be used.

Let’s talk about the fit

An incredible trip.
And a trip worth understanding.

You might love this if…

  • You want wildlife alongside food, culture, wine, and coastal scenery.
  • You like a guided itinerary with accommodations, transportation, and key experiences arranged.
  • You’re comfortable traveling with a small group and following a shared schedule.
  • You can make time for a two-week journey, international flights, and the recovery time you need afterward.

What the pace involves

Collette rates this itinerary Activity Level 3 / Active. Expect early game drives, including departures around 6 a.m., climbing into safari vehicles, and bumpy, dusty roads with limited restroom access.

The brochure notes three internal flights, two transfer days with at least three hours of driving, and periods of sitting up to four hours. Boats require boarding gangways independently.

The brochure says this tour cannot accommodate wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids. Tell me about any access needs before booking so we can review suitability with Collette.

Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. Table Mountain’s cable car operates subject to weather. I’m happy to talk through the practical details before you decide.

The investment

Know what you’re
planning for.

Your group-space offer combines the tour and Charlotte airfare, with $650 off the brochure regular rate per person. For two people sharing a room, that’s $1,300 in savings on the trip. Current rates and availability are confirmed by Collette when you book.

Included in the brochure package

  • Round-trip airfare from Charlotte Douglas International Airport, with applicable air taxes and fees.
  • Internal flights and the hotel transfers listed in the package.
  • Scheduled accommodations and transportation on the itinerary.
  • 29 meals: 13 breakfasts, 6 lunches, and 10 dinners.
  • Eight wildlife safaris and included sightseeing, with attraction taxes and fees.
  • Collette’s guided tour format, with a Tour Manager and local guides.

Plan separately for

  • Optional cancellation waiver and insurance: the brochure lists $769 per person.
  • Meals and drinks not specified, gratuities, and personal spending.
  • Passport and any required entry-document or travel-health expenses.
  • Optional excursions, air upgrades, and the optional Dubai pre-tour extension.
  • A single-room supplement if traveling in your own room. The brochure single rate is $14,199; availability is limited and must be confirmed.

A few useful answers

Before you
picture yourself there.

How much do I save through this group-space offer?

The brochure regular double-occupancy rate is $12,649 per person; the offer is $11,999 per person, including Charlotte airfare. That is $650 off per person, or $1,300 for two travelers. The air-inclusive savings offer is listed through August 18, 2027, subject to current rates and availability.

Where can I see the full itinerary and book?

Visit the Collette tour page for this group-space offer to review the itinerary, current reservation details, and booking options. Use that group link rather than a generic tour search.

What is the book-by date?

Book by August 18, 2027 for the brochure air-inclusive savings offer. Group space may be released at the August 11, 2027 seat-reduction date, so the offer deadline is not a guarantee of remaining space.

Is Nicole going on this trip?

No. This offer provides access to Nicole’s group space and the advertised savings. Nicole will not accompany the June 2028 departure. Collette operates and guides the tour.

What does booking group space through Nicole mean?

You can access the advertised group-space offer through Travel is the Answer’s Collette tour link. It does not mean Nicole travels with you, that the departure is private, or that every participant booked through her.

Is the tour private to Travel is the Answer?

No private or exclusive arrangement is being advertised. You may travel with other Collette guests. Ask Nicole to confirm the current group arrangements before booking.

Does the $11,999 price include international flights?

The June 2028 group brochure lists round-trip airfare from Charlotte, internal flights, applicable air taxes and fees, and hotel transfers in the package. It is based on two people sharing a room. Flight routing, schedules, current rates, and space need confirmation; this is not a promise of nonstop flights.

Can I travel alone or depart from another airport?

Ask Nicole to check single-room space or a different air gateway. The brochure lists a $14,199 single rate, subject to availability. Another departure airport may change the price and arrangements. A roommate match is not guaranteed.

What are the deposit and cancellation arrangements?

A $698 deposit per person reserves your booking and is refundable until August 18, 2027. The remaining balance is due March 19, 2028. Optional protection has separate payment and cancellation conditions. Review the current reservation terms on the Collette tour page before paying.

How physically demanding is this safari?

Collette rates it Level 3 / Active. Consider the early starts, bumpy vehicle rides, transfers, repeated vehicle entry and exit, and independent boat boarding as well as walking. The brochure excludes travelers using mobility aids. Discuss your specific needs before committing.

Are particular wildlife sightings guaranteed?

No. Animals move freely, and sightings vary. The eight wildlife safaris provide different opportunities to observe them; they do not guarantee a particular animal or the full Big Five.
